Mommy Ipockolypse and Friend Ipockolypse

Mommy Ipockolypse and Friend Ipockolypse were have a refreshing glass of water one day.

“Yea know,” started Mommy, “I don’t see why you try so hard to make friends. We already have so much on our plate.”

“Sure we are busy, and we have a lot going on. But, don’t we also want to become more multi-faceted as a person?” Friend replied almost grumpily. Friend was getting tired of the same conversation happening over, and over, and over.

“You do know that when you go your son isn’t getting the same care. Certainly Son Ipockolypse isn’t getting the same enrichment he would if you were home.” Mommy Ipockolypse was not playing softball today.

“It’s okay if Son isn’t always having he more therapeutically appropriate evenings. We are a better parent during the day if we get to have some therapeutically appropriate evenings, ourselves, on occasion.” Friend replied with a smirk, proud of her word play.

“Well,” Mommy huffed, feeling slightly defeated, “you know these new friends of yours will never except Son.”

“You forget the BBQ we just had a couple days ago, Mommy.” Friend straightened her posture. “Son was expressly invited. They thought he was a very good boy.”

“That is true.” Mommy slowly let a smile creep across her lips. “Maybe it is possible for both of us to be in the same room at the same time.”

This is in response to the writing prompt for Writing 101 this month. We were asked to write a post based on the contrast between two things — whether people, objects, emotions, places, or something else. For added difficultly, we were asked to do it in the form of dialogue.
