How Do I Tell My Husband No?

If there was anything that brought us together, and made our bond strong quickly, it was our mutual love for video games.

We were both World Of Warcraft players from way back. I did okay on console, but the fact that we were both Xbox fans made us a match made in gamer heaven.

Fast forward a few years, and I have started distancing myself from the gaming world. I don’t have my WoW account anymore, I played on some private servers (I know, tsk tsk) for awhile but I really just left it all behind.

Now the only games I play online are ticket2ride on a very rare occasion, and I try to keep up on my Dice with Buddies, though I’m lucky if I look once a day. I’ll admit, I still have plently of computer time between Facebook and WordPress.

I think one of the biggest reasons I’ve gained so much weight since getting married is because so much of my time was spent sitting on my butt in front of a computer.

My husband just got the new Elder Scrolls Online for the both of us. We have set up on both computers. I’m supposed to be playing right now while he’s at work, so I can catch up with him.

Here’s the thing. It’s a dirty little secret, too. I don’t really want to. I enjoyed playing Skyrim, and I would probably enjoy ESO. I just don’t enjoy gaming in general.

Besides, I have a lot of other extra-curricular activities to keep up on these days.

I just don’t know how to tell him that his wife isn’t his gaming partner anymore…..

  1. It’s hard when interests change. My spouse and I have been married 15+ years. It’s definitely a work in progress. Focus on finding something new you both like to do, rather than what you don’t want to do with him any longer. Good luck!

    • I wish he did. He did a lot of this stuff when he was younger, so he’s kinda over it. Plus with his knee some of the trails are rough. Plus, someone has to stay home with our son. It’s kinda been mommy only adventures, which make me sad. There’s been time I’ve wish I could share those moments with my husband. I found some cool walk/hikes I think he can do. I’m hoping we will do some this weekend.

  2. My husband and I used to play Ghost Recon 2 together before we has kids. It was a lot of fun. Our kids got in the way…but it is hard when your interests chance. Perhaps when you tell him, he may surprise you with how be feels too. Best of luck.
